Very important question for those who are only planning to expand to new markets, and I can not make recommendations here, as this depends very much on Company sales and marketing strategy. But I can share some experiences from our clients. So there are two options. Option number one, some companies prefer to start with a registration. And during one to three years, depends on product and country, companies usually find their distributing company. The benefit of this option is that the producing company is going to be the only Registration Holder, the company is able to control the registration process, and all the reports will be done in the name of and belong to the Registration Holder. Option number two, some companies prefer to find a distributor as a partner and then start the joint registration. The benefit of this option is that producing company and distributing company are able to share the registration cost. But there is another side of the coin. The producing company will have less control over the registration itself and over the dossier. And here I would like to bring your attention to the following things that may influence the producing company in the future. 1. And first thing is that the reports may not belong to the producing company if they were done under the name of the distributing company, and if you did not have any other approval, like agreement or letter, that those reports belong to you or both companies. 2. Second thing is that you have to make sure, if you are a producing company, that you have all the final original reports. You may need these reports in the future if you may want to register another similar product or the same product but with a new Trade Name or for renewal. It doesn’t matter if you are a producer or a distributor, I would recommend you to have all this information agreed and in writing, and from the very beginning.
